In my last blog I described the tune musically as if “Frank Zappa wrote “Bohemian Rhapsody” while wearing a flannel shirt while listening to Grunge in the 90’s”. After sitting on the “digital” shelf for a few years, the song slowly made it way back into my peripheral in early 2019. The working title for this song was “Disociopath” (a mixture of the words dissociative and sociopath) which was the route I thought I was gonna take when tackling the lyrics... ..but nothing ever was beamed down into my head to inspire such texts. In the beginning of the year during one of my “internet breaks” the lyrical route began to show it’s face. Ya see I began to get more and more agitated at the state of social media, both for promoting my music as a business and on my personal page. Social media has become so noisy with people either complaining, posting stupid memes, songs that we’ve all heard a thousand times or pictures of their kids: it was just way too much information for me to compute. All it took was one annoying post that I’d see in the morning to put me in a poopy mood. All because of someone’s toxic thoughts. So, when I sing “I’m so happy for you”...I’m really not. It’s just a sarcastic rebuttal to the amount of ridiculous posts I see on a daily basis. Posts that are blatant attempts to get validation and “likes” from people that probably don’t care about you anyway. Dopamine’s a hell of a drug... Also...inspirational quotes piss me off too. If you were inspired by them, you wouldn't need to post 'em so just stop!! Anyway, I hope you've learned a bit more about what this song is about and I'm so happy if you did.
I'd be happier if you went ahead and listened to "I'm So Happy For You" again. It'll make you happy. G E O F F B A R O N E
