This is album update number two blog for Acquiescence... and although this is kind of an extension of my first update and I may be repeating myself just wanting to give you a bit more insight and a little bit more background about the album...

Alright!! After mulling over a few names, I've decided my new album will be entitled "Acquiescence" Set for release this summer, (which is looking like mid to late July at this point), this album will contain 14 new tracks, written back in February. With the exception of the instrumental and one of the bonus tracks that were written back in 2012 during Superstorm Sandy. The styles are ranging from hard rock to bluegrass, acoustic ballads to face-crushing progressive metal blah blah blah. As I mentioned in my Blog post from March 2017...
On Friday, December 16th, I released an album called "Somewhere In The Near Future" under the alias CITIZEN 603. The album is an 80's inspired instrumental concept album which is best described as a mix of synthwave, prog with film score tendencies.
"Somewhere" is everything I love about Synthwave, Electronica & Progressive Rock coupled with a nod to 80’s composers like Georgio Morodor, Harold Faltemeyer & Klaus Doldinger among others. I grew up watching movies like The Running Man, The Neverending Story, Labyrinth so the music from those films always gave me a sense of nostalgia and a longing for a more simpler time… Back in May, my family and I moved from NYC/LI back to the Buffalo,NY area. Gone are the long days being stuck on trains, or waiting for trains and my 3 hour commute to Manhattan, which had all but sucked my soul dry and added extra stress and anxiousness to my already demanding life...
Well, 6 months ago, my wife and I put our house up for sale on Long Island. She was offered a job back in our home city of Buffalo,NY. It took me quite awhile to wrap my head around not living in the NYC area anymore. For years, I prided myself on living here and making a life for my family and me near the greatest city on the planet. Not to mention that last year, I finally had the chance to make my entrance into the off Broadway world of NYC. I felt like I was gaining a lot of momentum only to have the wind knocked out of my sails. Leaving Buffalo almost 10 years ago taught me a lot about the world, my career, my family and myself. I was forced to deconstruct every pro and con of this relocation.
In celebration of Halloween, I decided to cover a song from my all-time-favourite Halloween movie THE WORST WITCH, starring Tim Curry & Fairuza Balk.
Back in January, my video game music cover band THIS PLACE IS HAUNTED performed at the annual MAGFEST. A weekend-long convention held at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD & dedicated to all things video games! TPIH prides ourselves with our original spin on themes from old Nintendo games, TV shows and movie music from the 80's and 90's to today. As much as we stayed true to the original themes and such, we'd always try and give a different take on this music we grew up listening to and infuse our own musicalities into the parts. I have been consistently spending at least 1-2 hours per day, on my composing, songwriting, or being creative in someway. With time being a precious commodity in my life right now, I have disciplined myself to make the time. If I am tired, or just not in the mood for music, I still devote that time to learning or reading. So, in the course of almost 2 years I have recorded demos for 3 musicals and have beefed up my music licensing catalog to about 30 songs. All of which I have shopped around to various libraries with much promise. I released this collection of songs and called it MUSIC FOR MEDIA: Volume I. To stream and download these licensing cues, CLICK HERE. I have been more productive in the last 2 years than I have in the last decade. Not sure if it's just because I am getting older? Or maybe it's because I know I'm not getting any younger....so I have started to expedite my work flow and produce on a consistent basis. Also I know that my time is precious and I don't have the hours I once used too, to mess around with. Lots of news and exciting things to come in 2015. Stay tuned!!! Anyway, happy holidays and stay creative!!! G |
