Acquiescence is Geoff Barone’s “adulting” album, a retrospective look at a decade of life-changing experiences, from moving to New York City and pursuing a career in music to marriage, fatherhood, and ultimately returning to Western New York. A personal reflection on growing up, changing priorities, and learning to accept a life that doesn’t always unfold as planned.

Inspired by the decade between my move to New York City in 2006 and my return to Western New York in 2016, Acquiescence is a retrospective look at a period that changed just about every aspect of my life.

Those ten years brought marriage, fatherhood, multiple moves, a house, and my time working in the music industry. Somewhere along the way, the pursuit of a creative career collided with the realities of adulthood, leaving me burned out and facing a major life change I wasn’t particularly eager to make. Despite my reluctance to leave NYC, the decision was made to return to Western New York, where family wanted to settle. In the end, I acquiesced.

More than just a collection of songs, Acquiescence documents the transition from one chapter of my life to another. It’s my “adulting” album, reflecting on the experiences, compromises, and unexpected turns that shaped the person I became during those ten years.
