Well it's finally happening. I'm getting out of my comfort zone and playing live again with actual humans. It's been over 5 years that I've performed in this capacity, so this rehearsal is a bit rough around the edges...but we'll get there. With the help of extraordinarily talented Ryan Gaines on drums and Pike Matthews on bass, this whole experience was something I subconsciously needed. I've spent so long cooped up in my bedroom, hyper-focused on my extravagant studio experiments that I'd forgot what it was like to play music with other people. The give and take, the ebb and flow of performing live...it escaped me. Plans are in the works to play a few live shows this fall in the Buffalo, NY area, so join my MAILING LIST to find out when

Here's another random piano improvisation because remember folks, PLAYING PIANO IS EASY!!. Unfortunately these days, I don't have the energy or time to play as much as I'd like. It's a double edge sword though. The longer I stay away from the instrument, the more music will build up in my brain; so when I do sit down, the music just flows and I come up with a bunch of new ideas.... ...but knowing that I won't ever have time to fully bring all these new ideas to fruition, I purposely won't play for extended periods of time. This makes me sad. I already have hundreds of voice memos on my iPhone that I know I'll never get to...and this also makes me sad. Anyway, sorry about the pity party. Hope you enjoy Playing Piano Is Easy (Part 2) G Sorry you haven't seen a new upload in awhile. I recently changed locations for my day job which requires a longer commute, so my allotted time for "music" has been dramatically reduced. The extra time I have had, has been spent working on backend, mundand stuff that I shan't bore you with. Anyway, sorry for the rant as I'm sure you have problems of your own, so here's a quick piano improv for you to enjoy... ... and also for me to remind myself that playing piano is still easy. |
