Mix in a dollop of Electronica, Synthwave and soundscape ambiance with prog metal sprinkles and you'll get T.D.O.S.
The Darkest Of Summers also wouldn't be a “Geoff Barone” album if it didn’t have some underlying story or concept to it.
Plot-wise, T.D.O.S takes place right after the events in 2018’s “Acquiescence” and is loosely based on Charles' Dickens "A Christmas Carol" story.
Our main character, who ended up falling asleep in his beach chair at the end of "Acquiescence", now awakens to find that his world has changed.
The snow has all melted and it's now summer.
Unfortunately it'll turn out to be one of the darkest summers for him...didja see what I did there? ;)
Lyrically, The Darkest of Summers explores the subject of death and the loss of several loved ones that I've had to say goodbye to over the last several years.
Also clocking in at close to a mere 45 minutes, this album will surely be a bit more digestible than some of my previous releases and not so eclectic tone wise.
