When I started recording Acquiescence, I knew I wanted a wide array of timbres and tones. I ended up using close to 10 different guitars, and several different amps to get some really groovy tones.
Here's the list of guitars I used...and although I have a few gems (mostly handed down to me from my Father), most of my guitar collection is full of junk. Lol. Gibson Les Paul Custom Samick Artist Series SG Fender Squire Strat ("relic'd" by yours truly) Fender Lite Ash Tele Schecter PT Diamond Series Sears Silvertone 1448 (w/amp in case) Guild D40 NT Epiphone 5-String Banjo Peavey Foundation 5-String Bass Here's an Instagram post of the pictures as well

In this second installment, you will learn a bit more about the album's title. We'll dig deeper into the inspiration for the album and dig even deeperer into the similarities between my Citizen 603 album and the songs and concept of Acquiescence. Even though both records coincidently have (16) songs...there is actually a lot more to these projects than meets the eye...G.I JOE!!!!! oh wait...wrong show. Last week, my newest album, Acquiescence. was released. To a humbling reception and great feedback, the album was quite a success...moreso because I actually got the darn thing out. lol Anyway, I just wanted to give you a little glimpse into the making of this album. In Part I of the making of Acquiescence, I share how the album's inspiration and inception all began. What started as a change in my morning routine transpired into an albums worth of new songs. Instead of jumping on the computer, I decided to more or less "jump into my mind", as it seemed there were still a few things I needed to get out of my creative mind that I couldn't quite touch within my 2016 release Citizen 603: Somewhere In The Near Future. So, as much as the songs from Acquiescence seemed like an accident or come out of thin air; in hindsight, the songs and content was always there. I hope you enjoy this first part. There are more to come G I now present to you ACQUIESCENCE. Clocking in at close to 80 minutes and 16 tracks to boot, Acquiescence is one of my most sincere and honest albums to date; both musically and conceptually. Ranging from genre's like hard rock to bluegrass, swinging jazz to death metal; it's musical ADD...not really. Even with the wide array of music styles, I think I was still able to create a nice cohesive album with tunes and genre's flowing into one another seamlessly. The album is now available in a several different formats: CD / Digital from *Bandcamp and also on iTunes, Amazon and all the other major retailers. I recommend downloading from Bandcamp, because you'll receive the follow choice BONUS ITEMS not offered anywhere else: *BANDCAMP DOWNLOAD BONUS ITEMS: - 2 Bonus Tracks (Devil In the Details & Undersung) - The "F*#*!! Track" (15 min blooper reel) - My Original iPhone Voice Memo Recordings (of all 16 tunes) - Lyrics PDF (with guitar tunings and dates of inception)
Hi folks, Geoff Barone here.
It's been awhile. It's February now so you may have asked yourself "Geoff, what's up with your album? Are You Done Yet?" ...almost... As you may recall, I announced the release of Acquiescence was going to happen way back in August 2017...well obviously that wasn't the case. See, I got to a point in October that I just didn't wanna look at the sessions anymore...I just couldn't. I was burned out. It was a mixture of burnout and fear…. Do you ever feel alone? Do you ever feel like there's no one around to talk to? I've spent a lot of time by myself whilst recording Acquiescence and as you will see in this new album update video, it seemed like the only person I had to talk to was... myself. ;) Hope you enjoy it..I know we did. Geoff! Summer is over, where's the new album?!?! Tell me, what's the deal!? Well, I had hoped to get Acquiescence out by August, but then the summer happened. August came and went and now it's almost October!! Oh, and then my ADD took over and I started working on my rock opera again and then Kim Rose flew into town for another super songwriting weekend, etc etc, excuses, excuses... Hello everyone, Geoff here and this is an album update number #3. (aka Geoff sucks at guitar!) I wanted to give you guys a little glimpse into the guitar recording process for this album.
See my goal was to utilize many different guitars that we combined their respective tones and timbre’s to create a nice... This is album update number two blog for Acquiescence... and although this is kind of an extension of my first update and I may be repeating myself just wanting to give you a bit more insight and a little bit more background about the album...
Alright!! After mulling over a few names, I've decided my new album will be entitled "Acquiescence" Set for release this summer, (which is looking like mid to late July at this point), this album will contain 14 new tracks, written back in February. With the exception of the instrumental and one of the bonus tracks that were written back in 2012 during Superstorm Sandy. The styles are ranging from hard rock to bluegrass, acoustic ballads to face-crushing progressive metal blah blah blah. As I mentioned in my Blog post from March 2017... |
