On Friday, December 16th, I released an album called "Somewhere In The Near Future" under the alias CITIZEN 603. The album is an 80's inspired instrumental concept album which is best described as a mix of synthwave, prog with film score tendencies.
"Somewhere" is everything I love about Synthwave, Electronica & Progressive Rock coupled with a nod to 80’s composers like Georgio Morodor, Harold Faltemeyer & Klaus Doldinger among others. I grew up watching movies like The Running Man, The Neverending Story, Labyrinth so the music from those films always gave me a sense of nostalgia and a longing for a more simpler time…

In celebration of Halloween, I decided to cover a song from my all-time-favourite Halloween movie THE WORST WITCH, starring Tim Curry & Fairuza Balk.
Back in January, my video game music cover band THIS PLACE IS HAUNTED performed at the annual MAGFEST. A weekend-long convention held at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD & dedicated to all things video games! TPIH prides ourselves with our original spin on themes from old Nintendo games, TV shows and movie music from the 80's and 90's to today. As much as we stayed true to the original themes and such, we'd always try and give a different take on this music we grew up listening to and infuse our own musicalities into the parts. Released in 1978 this album featured Andrew's brother Julian on cello and the UK band Coliseum II which included some monster players such as Gary Moore, Don Aiery & Rod Argent. A lot of Andrew Lloyd Webber fans probably aren't familiar with this album, but surprisingly Variation 7 was featured in the new School Of Rock musical as well as several other motifs seem to have been recycled from this project. So perhaps some people will reach back into the ALW archives and discover this gem. Hopefully not, because I like to keep it a secret. :) Anyway, this album was a huge inspiration in my formative years and it was a treat to be able to pay tribute to this music and ALW. It also segued my interests from musical theatre into the prog rock world. Download for free or pay what you want HERE. G |
